After five installments in fourteen years, the Resident Evil film franchise is finally coming to a close this January with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Sony Pictures has released the teaser trailer, as well as an international teaser trailer, for the film, which you can watch here below.
Written and directed once again by Paul W.S. Anderson, the sixth and reportedly final film in the series will see the return of Milla Jovovich as Alice, one of the last remaining survivors of the apocalypse. Now, she must return for her last stand to Raccoon City where the evil Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces.
Also back in Ali Larter as Claire and Iain Glen as Dr. Isaacs. Glen has gained much more popularity since he was last seen in 2007’s Resident Evil: Extinction, thanks to his role on Game Of Thrones as Jorah Mormount, advisor to and admirer of Daenerys Targaryen. New to the cast are Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, William Levy, Fraser James, Rola, and Lee Joon-gi.
The international teaser is more somber and serves as a refresher for what’s happened thus far in the film franchise, while the lengthy domestic teaser overuses and weirdly edits Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City” around a lot of action shots.
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is set for release in standard and 3D theaters on January 27, 2017.
