Last week on The Strain, everybody tried to leave the city, and Justine (Samantha Mathis), her men, Gus (Miguel Gomez), and Angel (Joaquín Cosio) fought the flowing waves of strigoi in one last stand. Angel covered for Gus, and died a burning triumphant hero. Justine died a brave soldier as well. Gus escaped. Palmer (Jonathan Hyde) managed to steal the nuclear bomb, and ambushed Eichorst (Richard Sammel), severely injuring him. It’s about time he started to atone. Eph and Dutch (Corey Stoll and Ruta Gedmintas) finished their strigoi mind scrambler. Fet (Kevin Durand) and Eph got into a fistfight.

Warning! Spoilers for the season 3 finale of The Strain!

The Strain 3.10 “The Fall” (Finale) review: Setrakian (David Bradley) narrates the fall and rise of man, from historic plagues to strigoi, explaining about the reset button humans seem to have.

Palmer meets with Setrakian, bragging of his prowess. He has the 2nd nuclear bomb, and now that Eichhorst is wounded with silver bullets, The Master will be gunning for him. He wants Setrakian and company to be there for the last stand. “One final spin of the wheel.”

Eichhorst has seen better days, but he is rescued – a faithful servant is hard to come by.

Zach is playing in the street with his pet. A well meaning good samaritan tries to help him, but gets killed. Zach is one messed up kid.

They gather – Fet doesn’t want him there but Setrakian scolds them. The plan is to warble The Master’s mind with the device, get him into the silver box, and sink him into the sea – easier said than done.

Palmer’s envoy is attacked. And then he is really attacked in an unexpected way, emerging as the new Master. I really thought it would be Zach… but there is one season left, so who knows?

Zach thought he was in trouble for that guy dying, but his monster mother is proud of him.

Palmer is the creepiest version of The Master yet. He saves Eichhorst, understanding that his smug Palmer face bothering him.

The bomb is armed and Kelly is in charge of the detonator. That should end well.

The final phase of the plan is in motion. Oh my god. Everyone is going to die. And I really love all the characters that are left.

Quinlan is so f***in cool. I could not even breathe during his scene, when faced with his father

Eph and Kelly have a vicious fight, but Eph prevails, to Zach’s disgust. You really have to feel bad for Eph. His heart and brain are always in the right place, but he always messes up, even when he doesn’t.

WTF!!!! I cannot even believe what I just watched. The Strain went there. Zach in a temper tantrum, to get back at his father, blew up the Statue of Liberty with the nuclear bomb. He is the “Carl.” And I must ask Chandler Riggs forgiveness, because Carl is way cool now, but that’s what us TV viewers call annoying children on scary dramas.

The nuclear blast covered the sun and the strigoi came out to play, running like scurrying ants foraging for food, across Manhattan.

Okay… so really pissed at Zach setting off a nuclear bomb because he was mad at his living father for killing his strigoi mother.

When I review a show, I really try to take notes, not forwarding through commercials so I have time to type. I stopped mid-episode. I sat there, mouth open, not breathing, disbelieving. And fast forwarded through commercials, because I could not wait to see what happened next. This episode was completely bananas. The Walking who???

The Strain returns for its 4th and final season next summer on FX. I really don’t know how they can top that episode.
