A TV spot will air this Sunday during the Super Bowl for Season 2 of the Netflix series Stranger Things, but first, there’s an image that’s been released that’s a sneak peek of what we’ll be seeing during the Big Game.
Check out the photo here below from the Season 2 teaser.
The photos shows the characters Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) dressed in Ghostbusters costumes standing in front of Hawkins Middle School.
This year’s Super Bowl, which will see the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots face off on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 6:30 pm ET, will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. So Netflix posted to their official social media pages an image of the weather forecast for the city revealing that Sunday’s temps will see a low of -11 and high of 11, with red thunderstorms! The 11s are a nod to the show’s character Eleven, a young girl with psychokinetic powers who was subjected to lab experiments.
Season 2 of the Netflix original series will be set in 1984, one year after the events of Season 1. The show’s executive producer Shawn Levy (Arrival) told EW: “The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.”
The 8-episode Season 1 was launched worldwide on Netflix on July 15, 2016 and quickly became a pop culture phenomenon, prompting the network just one month later to approve a second season for 9 one-hour episodes. Season 2 will launch on Netflix later this year.
The series recently won several awards, most notably at the recent Screen Actor’s Guide Awards where the cast won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and star David Harbour gave an impassioned acceptance speech that earned a standing ovation. The series is currently up for several more awards, including two Grammys for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media and one for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for a Drama Series from the Directors Guild of America Awards.
