So after a long-awaited eight months of anticipation, Warner Bros. has dropped the newest trailer for Zack Snyder‘s Justice League. It’s not as though we didn’t see this coming. After all the studio had made the announcement about the upcoming trailer on Thursday through a series of short vignettes. Now, we are finally seeing the final cut of the trailer for the DCEU ensemble film everyone has been waiting for. It’s Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Moama), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) all together against strange winged-creatures, the very ones we saw in Bruce Wayne’s Knightmare sequence in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Check out the newest trailer here below, along with the new poster featuring the team.
The trailer’s use of Aerosmith’s rendition of The Beatles’ “Come Together” isn’t entirely surprising. A grittier cover of a classic song beloved by many has been a common practice. However, what is surprising is that Snyder is actually delivering on his promise that the film will be lighter and funnier. A stark contrast to what has been said about these films before. But considering that the DCEU has been criticized for being too dark and grim, it’s actually great to see that there is a little humor in the DCEU. Especially when the Flash questions what Batman’s superpowers are. But tonally, the trailer is all over the place. And maybe that is the kind of film we will get. Which is something we should probably expect, especially after seeing how Man of Steel, BvS, and Suicide Squad were just a practice in bad editing.
We are hit with a lot of spectacular eye candy that looks like the film was ripped right out of the comic books. The action is all flash and splash (yeah I went there, so what). And despite its numerous flaws, the payoff might be worth our while. The film seems to revolve around the mother boxes, something we saw in BvS and probably will see again in Wonder Woman. So it should be interesting to see how it all connects, especially since Cyborg is half-man half-mother box technology.
Not going to lie, I was worried about Justice League, especially since it was in Synder’s hands. But everything about it gives me a big giant S. Of course, there will be many of us questioning when we will see Superman, if at all. But seeing how these campaigns work, we will probably get some sort of tease in the final trailer or perhaps during Comic-Con.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash -— it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League opens in theaters on November 17, 2017.
