A trailer was released recently for an upcoming video game set in the Planet of the Apes universe titled Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier.
The game comes from Andy Serkis, who plays Caesar in the rebooted Planet of the Apes movie franchise, and the performance capture studio he co-founded, The Imaginarium Studios. It’s described as a cinematic adventure game in which you’ll play as both apes and humans, making decisions which will help determine how the story plays out. The story is set between the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the recentWar for the Planet of the Apes.
In addition to the trailer, some gameplay footage is also available to watch. Both can be found below.
If Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier looks like something you want to check out, you won’t have to wait long at all to play it. The game is scheduled to be released sometime this fall on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
This is not the first time that Serkis has been involved with a video game. He’s done voice acting and motion capture for multiple titles, including voicing Gollum in a few Lord of the Rings and Hobbit games, and a personal favorite of mine, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. He also starred in and was one of the directors on Heavenly Sword.
