Golden Globes Golden Globe

The 2018 Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning, and as you can expect there were some big front runners, some questionable snubs, and even more questionable nominations. The announcement means that it is time to get ready for awards season. Check out the full list of nominations here below, along with some thoughts on who got nominated and snubbed.

Get Out is not a comedy, it’s a satirical commentary on the current situation that is affecting our society. Just because it has dark comedy elements and is a satire, doesn’t mean it is a comedy.

Boss Baby over The LEGO Batman Movie? Did critics watch the same movie or just assume The LEGO Ninjago Movie was the same thing as The LEGO Batman Movie? In any case, they nominated the wrong movie.

The Big Sick got snubbed. Because heart and humor lose.

For some notable and even great films being directed by women, I find it hard to believe that the HFPA could not at least give a nomination to Greta Gerwig, Dee Rees, Sofia Coppola, Kaythryn Bigelow, and Patty Jenkins.

On the other hand, The Shape of Water came home with seven nominations including Best Picture – Drama, Best Original Score, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director for Guillermo del Toro.

On the TV front Master of None and Big Little Lies are the big leaders, taking in nominations of their own.

Late night talk show host Seth Meyers will host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will be broadcast live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Los Angeles, CA, on January 7, 2018.
