SXSW 2018: DC Comics Popup Is Filled With Batmobiles, Kryptonian Statues & Fun

The thing about SXSW is that it makes you superhumanly exhausted. It’s why DC probably pulled out all the stops with its presence at the event this year, including showing up with Batman’s signature ride(s), a sneak peek at Syfy’s upcoming Superman prequel series, free coffee (because of course), and so much more. Check out details from the event here below.

DC Comics did not disappoint at SXSW this weekend, having staged a huge pop-up booth that featured not one, but three glorious Batmobiles. On display was the “Kilmer” model Batmobile from the 1995 Batman Forever film, the “Tumbler” from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, and then the latest Batmobile from last year’s Justice League. Since this is the first time I’ve personally been able to see multiple Bat vehicles side-by-side as if it was a car dealership lot, I have to say the Justice League version was by far the most impressive. (Oh and beside each vehicle was an interesting card showing all the specs, per the photos below.)

Also on display was a giant Kryptonian statue of Superman, which is something even the most exhausted con-goer wouldn’t be able to ignore while walking down the street in Austin, Texas. The statue was there to promote the upcoming Krypton TV series that’s set to debut on Syfy March 21, 2018. Those in attendance were able to grab the first issue of “The World of Krypton” comic book and participate in a photo booth that casts you as a stoic Kryptonian clutching the iconic red cape.

CC Jitters SXSW

Finally, for those seeking a serious pick-me-up, DC was offering free coffee from none other than CC Jitters, the famed coffee shop from the CW’s The Flash TV series. (If you missed out, hey at least your Geeks Of Doom is here to let you live vicariously through us though. Check out the photo gallery for more.)
