Just when you thought Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) found their happily ever after, the two sisters, along with with their friends, Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Olaf (Josh Gad), as well as the rest of the kingdom of Arendell are forced to flee after their queen loses control of her powers. Our heroes’ latest adventure isn’t just some short or made-for-tv special. It’s an actual feature-length sequel. Frozen 2 will see the group embark on a quest into a mythical forest where they will discover the answers to why Elsa has her powers. Oh, and expect a few silly things, some songs, and, of course, danger. Check out the trailer here below.
Disney premiered the latest trailer for Frozen 2 on Good Morning America today.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough. From the Academy Award®-winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen 2” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2019.
As with all sequels, Frozen 2 will feature a slew of new characters that will either aid or hinder Anna and Elsa’s journey through this mystic forest. Then there are those who will provide some exposition.
Alfred Molina will voice King Agnarr. The son of King Runeard, King Agnarr is married to Queen Iduna (voiced by Evan Rachel Wood), and is Anna and Elsa’s father. He is described as someone who loves his family and would do anything to ensure his daughters’ wellbeing and safety.
Martha Plimpton voices Yelana, who is one of the newer characters of the film. As the unspoken leader of the nomadic Northuldra, she is fiercely protective of her family and community, but is known to soften when people show an understanding of nature and their environment.
Rachel Matthews provides the voice of Honeymaren, who is a member of the Northuldra. Like Anna, Honeymaren is free spirit and is bold and brave. She wants nothing more than to bring peace to the enchanted forest and has a reverence for the magic of nature.
Then there is Honeymaren’s younger brother, Ryder. Voiced by Jason Ritter, Ryder is eager and fun and embraces life with optimism. In fact, Ryder’s love of reindeer might just rival Kristoff’s – but unlike Kristoff, Ryder has never roamed the great plains outside of the Enchanted Forest. He longs to embrace the world and venture beyond the magical mist.
And finally, there is Bruni, a curious and cute salamander that inhabits the Enchanted Forest. Though shy at first, Bruni can’t help but be drawn to Elsa’s icy magic and enjoys the cool snowflake treats she creates.
Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, Frozen 2 opens in theaters on November 22, 2019.
