If one thing can be said about The Tick is that its title hero has an eclectic list of allies and villains. At this year’s New York Comic-Con, one such ally was showcased in a big way. Dangerboat, the talking sidekick and headquarters to the vigilante known as Overkill, was set up on the convention’s main show floor, allowing fans to take part in an interactive experience within the sentient warcraft. Pfeff-Bot and I had the chance to explore Dangerboat at length. Read below to find out what the experience was like!

The crowd was buzzing at the start of Amazon’s panel for their new scripted drama, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, as its lead star and executive producer John Krasinski — who plays the titular character — hit the stage. Along with moderator Terry Schwartz, Krasinski was accompanied by co-star Abbie Cornish, and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland.

Fans were treated to a couple of scenes from the show, the initial clip being the first seven minutes of the premiere episode.

Drawing Blood Kickstarter Kevin Eastman

If any of you are like me, you grew up watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, playing with the brand’s action figures, and reading the comics. But have you ever wondered what it was like for the creators of TMNT — or any other popular franchise for that matter — to hit it big in the comic book industry? What kind of stories do these guys have to tell from behind the scenes?

In Drawing Blood — a graphic novel written by one of TMNT‘s co-creators, Kevin Eastman, and that is currently running on Kickstarter — you’ll get to learn about some of these true stories, only set in a fictionalized world. Joined by comic creators David Avallone and Ben Bishop, Eastman’s Kickstarter for Drawing Blood has passed its goal of $75,000, and with only has a few days left, is now reach for some awesome stretch goals!

I was able to chat with both Avallone and Bishop about the project, and am excited to share their experiences with all of you! Check out the interview here below, along with their video for Drawing Blood!

Hulu's Dimension 404

Dimension 404
Episode 1.1 “Matchmaker”
Directed by Stephen Cedars and Benji Kleiman
Written by Will Campos and Dez Dolly
Starring Robert Buckley, Lea Michele, Joel McHale, Matt L. Jones, Karissa Staples, Mark Hamill
Hulu
Air Date: Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Warning: Minor spoilers for Dimension 404 below:

Imagine if Doctor Who and The Twilight Zone had a baby; the result would be Rocket Jump’s new Hulu series, Dimension 404. Each installment of the six episode anthology show is inspired by the internet’s all too familiar “404” error code, and focuses on the deeper, darker, and stranger depths of the World Wide Web — and did I mention that Mark Hamill is the narrator?

But is the show itself a success, or does it deserve its own “error” mark? Find out below in this review of episode one, “Matchmaker.”

This Off Beat Town Issue 2 Jake Smith Cover

I love a good indie comic book series; especially one with an exhilarating story, witty dialogue, amazing action sequences, stellar illustrations, an ex-mercenary monkey, and giant, killer robots. Yeah, Jake Smith‘s This Off Beat Town is my kind of book.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign for the first issue, Jake is back with the quirky, “off beat” characters that make the city of Nero so entertaining. With a goal of $10,000 for issues two through four, Jake’s new campaign has already raised almost 90 percent with 15 days to go, and has some awesome rewards as well!

I was able to speak with Jake about his project and am happy to share the interview with all of you here at Geeks of Doom. Check it out below along with his Kickstarter campaign video!

Dead Jack and The Pandemonium Device
Dead Jack Book 1
Paperback | Kindle
By James Aquilone
Homunculus House
Release date: November 19, 2016

What’s better than a zombie novel? How about a zombie novel about an undead, foul-mouthed, junkie private eye, his homunculus sidekick, Oswald, and their outlandish adventures through the otherworldly Pandemonium? I’d say that’d do it! I first discovered the Dead Jack and the Pandemonium Device Kickstarter via John Denardo, the former head of SF Signal — and I’m glad I did. Written by James Aquilone, this is not your typical supernatural romp.
