Week of Geek; Back to the Future, 25th Anniversary

This is heavy!

25 years ago to the day, my favorite movie of all time was released upon the world. That faithful day — July 3, 1985 — was the day Back To The Future opened to the public, and here at Geeks of Doom we’ve been celebrating this anniversary all week long.

Geeks Of Doomers Guy_Jen and Vactor couldn’t think of a better way to wrap of the BTTF Week of Geeks and also kick off the first episode of the new official Geeks of Doom film podcast, Flix of Doom, than to talk about Back To The Future!

Check out our first mini-episode here below (running time is approximately 25 minutes). Your ears will thank you later.

  2. That VHS trilogy you guys talk about in the podcast is exactly the one I was just watching with my parents :) Santa Claus brought it to me when I was like… 7… around 1995 I guess. I love it so damn much :)
One of the reasons that I love these movies is ’cause I have this weird fixation with the past… the 1950’s vibe, for starters. But there is so much in them that makes them amazing! I find the relationship between Marty and Doc to be very interesting and endearing. Both of them are outsiders: they live in their own world, and they work fine that way! They care for each other in that cool mentor-pupil way… it’s awesome.
I was born in ’88, but still BTTF were my favorite movies when I was a kid. I remember watching them over and over because they showed them like once a month on a local channel… but I loved them so much that the day of my First Communion, after the ceremony and all, my best friend and I locked ourselves on a bedroom and watched the whole trilogy. Folks didn’t really mind.

Thank you guys for giving us this podcast. You just improved my mood after a BTTF-related fight with my Dad. I’m gonna be listening to you every week :)

PS: You barely mentioned BTTF The Ride now lost at Universal Studios Hollywood! I just found out they took it off for placing a Simpson’s thing, it broke my heart! (even if I love The Simpsons) Everytime I went to the Studios (like once every 2 or 3 years from age 4 to age 16) I would go on the ride up to 6 times!!

PS2: Loved the BTTF week :)

  3. We just finished watching BTTF with my 12 year old nephew, who had never seen it before. He seriously LOVED the hell out of it. It’s after midnight and we’re about to watch BTTF 2. These are the movies that I grew up loving, and I really love how excited he is about them. =)
