Jude Law

No, Brie Larson did not lose the title role in Captain Marvel. But her character, Carol Danvers, originally started out as a military pilot who adopted the Captain Marvel moniker when she came in contact with the alien Captain Mar-vell.

The film will be an origins story for the title character, which means they would need someone to fill the role of the alien who gave her her powers. Now there are reports saying Jude Law could be the person to do so. More on the story below.

MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS #3

Nick Fury has been a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the very beginning. While Samuel L. Jackson‘s roles have been supporting ones, there is no doubt he plays a key part in the MCU. But he has been noticeably absent during the events of Phase 3.

Who knows what he would have done during Captain America: Civil War. And now it appears he won’t have a role in other films like Avengers: Infinity War, the untitled Avengers 4, and Black Panther. See what Jackson had to say below.

Brie Larson Captain Marvel

There’s going to be a bit of a dynamic shift going on with the script for Captain Marvel. For the past few years, Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) were writing the script, which would be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck of Mississippi Grind.

Now it looks like they are bringing in a new writer. According to a report, Gotham City Sirens writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet will now be penning the script. More on this below.

Captain Marvel

Marvel Studios certainly has an eye for finding talented directors. In their search for a director for Captain Marvel, the studio considered Niki Caro (Whale Rider, MacFarland, USA), Lesli Linka Glatter (TV’s Mad Men), and Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World).

But it seems like those reports were off just a bit. There’s word that the duo who have worked on Half Nelson, It’s Kind of a Funny Story, and Mississippi Grind together, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will direct Marvel’s first female-led superhero flick starring Brie Larson. More on the story below.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Clarifies If ‘Captain Marvel,’ ‘Black Panther’ Will Be Origin Stories

Captain Marvel

Traditionally, a major superhero of a major franchise would get his or her introduction in an origins story. That wasn’t the case for Black Panther as he was the first major Marvel superhero to be welcomed into the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. He will still get a chance to shine in his own solo titular film come February 2018. But looking at the schedule for upcoming films, the MCU narrative dynamic is going through a bit of a change as some heroes won’t get origins stories and some will get origins stories (but even that will be interesting to see).

Yesterday, Kevin Feige stopped by to visit one of the special 15-minute screenings of Doctor Strange that was held across the country to talk about the future of the MCU and confirmed that Black Panther “won’t be” an origins film and added that Captain Marvel will be an origins film. More on the story below.

Captain Marvel

At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige revealed that Brie Larson was confirmed to play the title role of Captain Marvel. At the time, the film, written by Meg LaFavue and Nicole Perlman, didn’t have a director, but there was a sense that the origins film would be a “reinvention” in order to avoid any comparisons to Green Lantern. Now it looks like Marvel is closing in on a director.

According to new reports, they have set their sights on Niki Caro (Whale Rider, MacFarland, USA), Lesli Linka Glatter (TV’s Mad Men), and Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World). Check more on the story below.

‘Captain Marvel’ Origin Story To Be Adjusted Thanks To A Certain Green DC Hero

Captain Marvel

Marvel and DC may have a friendly little rivalry going on in both comics and movies, but they do share their similarities, most notably in their characters. They have rich boy heroes with high-tech gadgets at their disposal. They have speedsters, demi-gods based on mythology, powerful sorcerers, and archers. You get the gist. For the characters that have had their cinematic debut in their respective shared universe, their origins stories haven’t changed much, if at all.

But for Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, which just cast Brie Larson as the title character, it looks like they’re straying away from the comic book’s origin story, and you have the 2011 Green Lantern movie to thank for that. More on the story below.

Captain Marvel Comics Banner

Last night Brie Larson was reported to be in talks to play Captain Marvel, Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero film. The superhero studio has been casting some pretty high-profile names in the past, and a couple of Oscar-winning ones as well, so if they manage to sign Larson on it just be another excellent casting notch on their belt. The actress suddenly shot to the front of the line stepping ahead of favorites like Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson.

Now there are reports that Marvel has already set their sights on a director for the film. Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Niki Caro (MarFarland, USA) are reportedly in the running for the job. More on the story below.
