Kickstarter Spotlight: The Black Glove

Many people who are fans of video game and who are in the gaming industry were shocked by the sudden and unexpected closing of Irrational Games, the makers of BioShock and BioShock Infinite, including many of the people who worked at the company. Though surely a difficult thing for the people it affected most to get past, life does indeed go on, as they say. And so it was only a matter of time before the tremendously talented group of people who worked on the BioShock games started making new games.

As it turns out, a pair of new games from new developers featuring the talents of former Irrational employees have now sprung up on Kickstarter, and so we’re happy to help spread the word. Both games—one titled The Black Glove from Day For Night Games, the other The Flame in the Flood from The Molasses Flood—look phenomenal in very different ways. One looks somewhat similar to BioShock (in a good way), while the other looks far from it.

You can read more about both projects and see gameplay for both titles in their Kickstarter videos below!

BioShock Big Daddy and Little Sister

Earlier this week came the surprising news that BioShock and BioShock Infinite developer Irrational Games would be closing its doors soon, leaving the future of the franchise up in the air.

Considering that publisher 2K Games has already made a direct sequel to the original game in 2010, not to mention the fact that Irrational co-founder Ken Levine said they would be handing the reins to 2K now, it was assumed that they would almost certainly be making at least one more title in the series at some point. Now 2K has confirmed their intentions.

You can read what they said below.

BioShock Banner

Well this is certainly unexpected!

BioShock Infinite was easily one of the best games of last year, a long-awaited yet very much worth it follow-up to the 2007 classic BioShock. Many wondered with great excitement where the franchise could and would go in the future, but all of that is now much more up in the air than anyone anticipated.

In a message posted by Ken Levine, one of the co-founders of BioShock and System Shock 2 developer Irrational Games, it has been revealed that the studio will be closing its doors after work on the final BioShock Infinite DLC is completed.

Continue below for more and to read the full announcement from Levine, including what’s next for him.
