Justice League

And so begins another episode of the tiresome saga of Zack Snyder version of Justice League that never was. Everyone has their thoughts on the matter, with devoted fans demanding that Warner Bros. release the co-called “Snyder Cut.” It is a cut that they believe exists from before he had to exit to address some personal matters. Though many behind the scenes have said it doesn’t exist to begin with, it’s unclear if the film would have made it any better (or worse). But one thing is for sure: we aren’t going to get it.

And now Snyder reveals why. According to him, the original Justice League script was never shot. More on the report below.

Ben Affleck As Batman With Zack Snyder

Zack Snyder made a few visually stunning comic book film adaptations before he was brought in to helm the DC Extended Universe. Once there, he brought a darker and more brooding tone to the DCEU, which was a stark contrast to the lighter and funnier Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though this darker superhero universe had its fan base, it never could achieve the same level of success as the MCU. And it didn’t help that there were those who were opposed to Snyder’s interpretation of these beloved characters, many of whom went against their codes or just against the source material in general.

Case in point, Batman. Then played by Ben Affleck, the DCEU’s version saw Batman kill. Something of which he has done before, whether that was freely, inadvertently, or something that could be debated. But the Dark Knight is perhaps known for his no kill policy. It is a policy that Snyder doesn’t care about. In fact, he has one thing to say to you if you don’t like his Batman killing: “Wake the fuck up.” More on the report below.

Kevin Smith Reveals Zack Snyder Had Plans For A ‘Justice League’ Trilogy

Justice League

Zack Snyder’s true vision for Justice League never came to fruition. Designed as a two-part film, Justice League would be the first time that DC heroes banded together to fight off cosmic threats. Unfortunately, lackluster films that came before it forced the two parts to become one part. Not only that, but Snyder left the project after principal photography, leaving Joss Whedon to take care of the post-production work. But with all of the last-minute reshoots and mustache gate, the film ended up being a major disappointment. Which is probably why many asked to see a Snyder cut well after it failed to meet expectations.

But never let it be said that Snyder did not have a bold vision for the DCEU. In fact, what was rumored to be a two-part film in the very beginning was actually a trilogy. At least, according to Kevin Smith. More on this below.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The original plan for Justice League was to release it in two parts. However, plans for that fell through, and Zack Snyder ended up directing it, with the help of Joss Whedon, as one film.

It’s unclear what a two-part Justice League would have looked like, but we are getting a better picture of what would have happened to some of the characters. Snyder took to social media to reveal that he would have killed Batman (Ben Affleck) in the Justice League sequel. More on the story below.

David Goyer Addresses Controversial Man Of Steel Ending

Warner Brothers’ DCEU, or the DC Extended Universe, has had its share of problems. One of its major issues is that most of the films that have been released could never match the critical or commercial success of Marvel Studios releases.

The other is having an actor commit to playing their respective superheroes. In the latest shocking development, Henry Cavill will no longer play Superman. The move could give way to change how WB moves forward with its DC films. More on the story below.

Warner Bros. Revamping DC Movie Creative Forces After ‘Justice League’ Underperforms

Justice League

It was pretty inevitable that Warner Bros. would be making an executive decision in the wake of Justice League‘s lackluster box office performance. The numbers don’t lie — the film won’t be making a profit. At least not anytime soon. Not with the millions that went into those reshoots and marketing. That being said, the studio had to do something in order to right the ship, which by all accounts, was sinking, and sinking fast.

And that is exactly what they are doing. In a major shakeup, WB is removing key figures from their current positions and is considering merging DC movies into the studio’s main film production arm. More on the story here below.

WB Projected To Lose Up To $100 Million On ‘Justice League’

Justice League

Justice League‘s disappointing turn out at the box office last weekend could give way to a huge financial blow to Warner Bros. Normally, a film that grossed $94 million would be a cause for celebration. But when you factor in the cost of production and promotional material, a low $94 million is not even enough to cover a fraction of the overall film. In fact, Justice League is already lined up to becoming the lowest grossing DCEU film since the universe was launched back in 2013.

These low numbers could have a negative impact on the future of the DCEU has a whole. More on the story below.

Justice League Banner

Justice League
Director: Zack Snyder

Cast: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, Ciarán Hinds
Distributor: Warner Bros.
Rated PG-13 | 120
Release Date: November 22, 2017

It’s easy to go into watching Justice League with very low expectations considering how the entire DCEU is filled with bad to god-awful films, with the exception of Wonder Woman. That film was a huge step forward in the right direction for the superhero universe, as it used themes of hope and optimism to do some course correction.

But with Justice League looking like it did in the trailers, one would think that the film would be a step back. However, that isn’t the case. While it is flawed, Justice League has a lighter tone, is funnier, and isn’t as bleak as some of its predecessors. That being said, it is a DCEU film. But at least it is a DCEU film that takes another step in the right direction. Check out my full review below.

Justice League

The DCEU has had its fair share of bad films. Actually, almost all of them are incredibly bad with the exception of Wonder Woman. That being said, the franchise has somewhat of a reputation for producing disappointing superhero films. Something you can tell by just looking at their Rotten Tomato score.

While the aggregator site’s scores for films can be misleading at times, it is a tool that is used for a filmgoer to determine whether or not they will check out the film in question. So it really says a lot when Rotten Tomatoes will not reveal the score for Justice League until one day before the film’s release. More on the story below.

Here We Go Again, Ben Affleck Considering A Graceful Departure From Playing Batman

Batman v Superman Ben Affleck Bat Signal

So the ongoing saga of whether or not Ben Affleck will continue to play Batman after Justice League continues. This has been pretty much a thing since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice failed to live up to expectations. Affleck has gone on record saying he doesn’t want to play as Batman anymore, only to pull a 180 just days – sometimes hours later – and say he is committed to the role for the foreseeable future. The actor has played The Batman three times so far: once in Batman v Superman, another in Suicide Squad, and a third coming up in this week’s Justice League.

But it appears that Affleck has grown tired of the superhero world and is setting his sights on hanging up the cape for good. However, unlike previous attempts to exit the DCEU, the actor is now reportedly looking for a “graceful and cool way to segue out of it.” More on the story below.
