The LEGO Movie Image Header

The adventures of mild-mannered master builder Emmet (Chris Pratt) will continue in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The full title for the sequel was announced over the film’s official Twitter account earlier today, along with a teaser image. And while we may not know a whole lot about the movie itself, we know that it will be released February of next year, which was the time of year that the first movie dropped. Check out more on the story below.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2
Xbox One | PS4 | Nintendo Switch
DEVELOPER: TT Games
PUBLISHER: WB Games
RELEASE DATE: November 14, 2017

I’m not even half-way through, but I can tell you that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 (developed by UK-based WB subsidiary TT Games) is already loaded with obscure and classic old-school Marvel characters, and that alone, makes it a purchase worth your time and money.

Yes, the gameplay is repetitive and virtually unchanged from any other LEGO TT games; the mechanics go back more than a decade, so it might be time to consider an engine overall for future releases. And yes, there are some frustrating glitches, but the real joy of playing Marvel Super Heroes 2 is found in the breadth of characters and environments. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 does an admirable job of meshing the widely-known Marvel movie universe (including the just released Thor: Ragnarok) with the lesser-known comic book Marvel universe — specifically, the old-school Marvel U. Fanboys of a certain age (that is, old farts like me) are in for some real surprises.

Play Fair 2017: A Weekend Of Fun & Toys!

Play Fair-19

If you and your children felt overwhelmed at New York City Comic Con last month, then I recommend saving early November for Play Fair NY. This past weekend Play Fair NY took over the Jacob Javits Center in midtown Manhattan, and gave kids of all ages a reason to be very excited about the upcoming holiday season. Play Fair NY featured interactive toy and game areas, celebrity and character meet and greets, a 13,000 pound vat of slime, a Minecraft VR learning lab, and a chance to see all the toys nominated for 2017 Toy of the Year. The best compliment I can pay Play Fair NY though, is as a parent. Both my 13-year old son and 6-year old daughter did not want to leave and they were actively playing and engaging their minds and imaginations, rather than glued to a screen.

LEGO Play Fair-09

This past weekend was Play Fair NY, a kid-centric, toy crazy experience that had boys and girls of all ages excited, engaged, and learning through play. One of the highlights of Play Fair was a huge display/play area of LEGOs. My kids (and many others) went back there again and again.

LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future

The impressive voice cast has been announced for the upcoming video game LEGO Dimensions in the form of a new preview video.

While the cast is huge, it’s a specific part of the cast that’s particularly exciting. Among all the names, none other than Michael J. Fox is in the game, reprising his role as Marty McFly from Back to the Future. He’s also joined by co-star Christopher Lloyd, who of course voices Emmett “Doc” Brown. If you recall a handful of years ago, Telltale made their own episodic Back to the Future game, but Fox was unable to record for the game at the time, leading to them bringing in a surprisingly accurate impressionist for the job.

You can read a rundown of who joins Fox and Lloyd on the cast, including stars of The LEGO Movie, Doctor Who, Portal, and more, and also watch the voice cast announcement video below.

Lego Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles

Lego Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles
DVD
Starring Eric Bauza, Michael Daingerfield, Anthony Daniels, Trevor Devall
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
Release date: September 13, 2015

LEGO and Star Wars proved they were a winning combination when they teamed up in 2005 for Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, and the two properties have made a perfect marriage of fun every since.

Lego Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles is a DVD collection of four 22-minute episodes of the Lego Star Wars television series that aired on Disney XD in 2014 in what is actually the second season. While the first season (collected as Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles) was set during the Prequel era, these new episodes take place mostly during the Original Trilogy years and feature Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, as well as the droids C-3PO and R2-D2, and of course Yoda. But, there’s many more familiar faces appearing as animated LEGO versions of their big-screen selves in this round of tales.

Doctor Who LEGO Set Artwork by Andrew Clark

Doctor Who and LEGO, together forever! When you think of the crossover appeal, it seems like a no-brainer. Children have probably been putting down LEGO blocks to turn on the television and watch Doctor Who for decades now. Yet there never was an official set that let kids assemble the Doctor, the companions, the TARDIS, and the monsters to play with in the LEGO make believe worlds.

Until now, that is. LEGO announced this week that Doctor Who will be subject of their next LEGO Ideas set. The idea for the set was submitted by Who fan Andrew Clark, an artist at a game design company by day and devoted LEGObuilder at night. Final design, pricing, and availability of the set is yet to be announced.
