First ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Image Has Emily Blunt Looking Very Dapper
We are still over a year away from the release of Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to the 1964 musical hit Mary Poppins. Based on PL Travers‘ works, the film follows the title character as she returns to London to help Michael rediscover joy after he suffers a personal heavy loss. Emily Blunt takes on the title role once played by Julie Andrews, and she will be accompanied by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Meryl Streep. The film is still in production, but Disney has released our very first look of Blunt as Mary Poppins. Check it out here below.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Starts Production; Full Cast and Plot Synopsis Revealed
Production for Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns has begun. Directed by Rob Marshall (Into The Woods), the sequel to the 1964 musical will see the return of the title character (now played by Emily Blunt) as she re-enters the lives of the Banks’ children, who are now older, after Michael (Ben Whishaw) suffers a personal loss. Official ‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel Title & Release Date Announced
Earlier this year Disney released a schedule of yet-to-be-announced film. Given the string of successful live-action adaptations and reboots the studio has gone through recently, it’s no surprise that they would be announcing release dates early on. One of those live-action films Disney has in store for us is the sequel to the 1964 film Mary Poppins.
Now the studio has announced an official title, Mary Poppins Returns, and a release date for the film. The film, which will star Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda, is expected to hit theaters in December 2018. More on the story below.

Emily Blunt In Talks To Be The Next Mary Poppins
It’s being reported that Emily Blunt has entered into negotiations to star in Disney’s sequel to Mary Poppins, taking on the title role played by Julie Andrews in the 1964 classic.
Though Blunt is in talks for the role, and is said to have always been the top choice to take on the iconic character, it’s not yet certain she’ll be able to take the job. The actress is currently expecting her second child, and there’s a chance that that could prevent her from being able to commit to the project.
