Frank Miller's Sin City

Our time in Basin City might not be over just yet. It’s being reported that a TV series based on Frank Miller‘s comic Sin City is now being developed.

The TV series is being developed by The Weinstein Company and Dimension, based on a take from writer Glen Mazzara. Mazzara created TV series like Crash and the show based on The Omen, Damien. ‘Jane Got A Gun’ Trailer: Outlaws Are Out To Get Natalie Portman

Jane Got A Gun 01

A new trailer for Jane Got A Gun has just been released. The film stars Natalie Portman as the titular character who finds herself in the crosshairs of a notorious gang led by Ewan McGregor, who is out to kill her and her husband. So she seeks help from a former flame (Joel Edgerton) in hopes that they can stop the outlaws together.

There is no hiding the fact that the movie has had a very public troubled production history. With Relativity’s financial problems, lawsuits, and directors and lead actors coming and going, the project almost didn’t happen. However, Portman was the only one who stuck with it, in addition to Portman, McGregor, and Edgerton, the film also stars Noah Emmerich (The Americans). Jude Law (Spy), Michael Fassbender (Macbeth), and Bradley Cooper (Joy) previously passed on the roles. Gavin O’Connor is the film’s director.

The first trailer was met with mixed reactions. Its awkward cut and strange pacing didn’t really bode well for the film. But this new trailer is a much needed improvement. Check it out below.

The Hateful Eight

The Weinstein Company has released the latest trailer for The Hateful Eight online. Starring Kurt Russell as the bounty hunter John Ruth, who is bringing in Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) for a hanging, the two must hunker down in a remote cabin with six strangers to weather out a blizzard that has hit Wyoming. The question is can John trust another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson), a confederate (Bruce Dern), a sheriff (Walton Goggins), a Mexican (Demian Bichir), a little man (Tim Roth), or a cow-puncher (Michael Madsen).

Tarantino has been making the news headlines as of late, with the filmmaker joining protests about police brutality, while the targeted major metropolitan police departments are asking people to boycott the upcoming film. It’s not really clear if this will have a huge effect on the film, sometimes these things blowover, especially when there are those who will probably high off watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens just a week before. Though there are chances that his actions could come back to haunt him. In any case, check out the full trailer below.

Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight

There is no question that Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight is one of our most anticipated films of the year. We know that we are being given the option to see the film in 70mm, and that Tarantino is retrofitting at least 50 theaters so that we can see the movie in Ultra Panavision 70. As exciting as it sounds to be able to see a film in such a rare format, the director is now saying that those who will see it in 70mm will see a very different cut from those who see it in the regular multiplex. So much so that there is even an intermission time.

Artemis Fowl

Disney is getting ready to try to bring author Eoin Colfer‘s book series Artemis Fowl to life once again in a live-action adaptation. The studio teamed up with The Weinstein Company back in 2013 for the project, but making the movie happen has proven difficult. The Weinsteins first acquired the rights to adapt, when they were Miramax, around when the first book came out back in 2001 before Disney bought the company and they went on to found TWC.

Now comes word that they’ve brought in Thor and Cinderella director Kenneth Branagh to develop and direct the movie. It’s also being reported that Irish playwright Conor McPherson is in talks to pen a new screenplay for the movie.

Studio turn-out over at San Diego Comic-Con may be small this year, but this gives other films an opportunity to shine. Aside from our excitement for WB’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice panel, as well as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part II, there’s Quentin Tarantino‘s The Hateful Eight. In anticipation of the film’s panel, EW has unveiled a brand new image from the film, which features Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson traveling by stagecoach through what appears to be a nasty snowstorm. Tarantino also shares some info on what serves as an inspiration for the film. More on this below.
