Trick 'r Treat

It’s Halloween night, which means many of us are watching the perfect Halloween night movie: Trick ‘r Treat.

It’s been six years now, unbelievably, since Legendary Pictures thrilled fans with the announcement that Trick ‘r Treat 2 was on the way. But alas, it would seem that the announcement was more of a cruel trick than the wonderfully sweet treat it appeared to be at the time.

Still, Michael Dougherty—who made his feature directorial debut on the 2007 original, and has since gone on to helm Krampus and Godzilla: King of the Monsters—is asked about the sequel every year around this time, and this year was no different. You can see what he had to say about the sequel below.

Legendary Comics has announced a collection of new comics, including a trio based on existing or upcoming movie franchises.

First up is a graphic novel based on director Michael Dougherty‘s cult classic Halloween anthology Trick ‘r Treat, which will hold over fans of the movie until the much-anticipated sequel arrives. There’s also a graphic novel based on Dougherty’s next movie, the Christmas-themed horror flick Krampus.

Next is Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift, the follow-up to the graphic novel based on Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim titled Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero, that del Toro promised last June when Pacific Rim 2 was announced. Also announced is new comics Black Bag and Cops for Criminals.

You can read more on all of these comics and see artwork below.

Legendary Trick 'r Treat 2 panel photo by The Iceman for Geeks Of Doom

A few years back when we finally got to see the long delayed anthology flick Trick ‘r Treat, it quickly became many people’s favorite Halloween movie. And understandably so—it really is the perfect movie to watch on Halloween night after all the trick or treaters have come and gone. The Christmas Story of Halloween movies, if you will.

Since then the passionate fanbase has only grown larger and larger, as has the demand for a sequel. Those wishes were finally granted at a screening of the movie recently where Trick ‘r Treat 2 was officially announced, much to the delight of fans.

Legendary Pictures has released a video from that same screening, which includes cast and crew discussing the original and its legacy, and also shows the big announcement. You can watch the video below.

Trick 'r Treat 2 title card

Last week, we told you about the special theatrical screening and live panel with the stars for Michael Dougherty‘s Trick ‘r Treat taking place on October 28 in Hollywood, CA. During last night’s post-screening panel, which included director Dougherty and stars Dylan Baker (who we interviewed here), Brian Cox, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, and Quinn Lord, a sequel to the Halloween horror anthology was announced!

The news that Legendary Pictures would be doing Trick ‘r Treat 2 was revealed during an audience Q&A session at the panel, which was hosted by Seth Green. A title card for the sequel was also unveiled (see image here at top).

The theatrical screening and the panel were both live-streamed, though there were some technical difficulties throughout the night with the stream. We had our man The Iceman on the scene at the event at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood – see his photo here below from the panel.
