SDCC 2012: More Photos From The Convention Floor
 |
Posted by Dave3 | July 17th, 2012 at 12:00 pm |

In truth this is more a photo catalogue of things I want than anything else. For instance, the Bender’s Big Score print from Acme Archives, a custom painted guitar from ESP like the guys at the Monsterverse booth, all the lightsaber lamps from Museum Replicas, life-sized trolls from Weta Workshop for my front lawn, an entire footlocker full of The Walking Dad zombie “Army Men,” and to be trained in the art of making awesome comics by the legendary Stan Sakai, creator of Usagi Yojimbo.
And if anyone wants to gift me the Galactus maquette from Sideshow Collectables I wouldn’t mind. I swear.
Thus begins my covetous photologue. Enjoy! [...]

SDCC 2012: New Cinematic Clip From Naughty Dog’s ‘The Last Of Us’

A brand new clip from the highly anticipated new game from the company behind the amazing Uncharted video game franchise, The Last of Us, was released at this year’s Comic-Con.
The clip doesn’t show off the exciting gameplay we saw at the recent E3 convention, but does show a cinematic involving the main character you play as, the teenage companion you’re making your way through the devastation of the apocalypse with, and a new character who may owe you a big favor. [...]

After an exhausting but fun week covering movie and comic panels we spent our last day at San Diego Comic-Con walking the convention floor, visiting all the awesome booths, picking up a bit of swag, and speaking with a ton of comic creators, cosplayers, and fans of Geeks of Doom, and snapping as many photos as humanly possible.

SDCC 2012: Extremely Rare Photo Of Sand People Travelling Side-By-Side

If you’re a fan of Star Wars, then you know that Sand People always travel single file to hide their numbers. Hence, when in the first film Obi-Wan and Luke find the dead Jawas made to look like they were slaughtered by Sand People, Obi-Wan notes the tracks in the area are side-by-side, something the Sand People wouldn’t do (a-ha!).
Therefore, you can imagine how excited we were this weekend when we happened upon a rare moment of two Sand People travelling side-by-side at San Diego Comic-Con!
Check out our extremely rare photo here below [...]

SDCC 2012: ‘Doctor Who’ Panel

There are arguably few fandoms quite as large or with quite the rabid following as the Whovians who follow BBC’s Doctor Who. And 6500 of them turned out in force for the show’s panel on Sunday at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Moderator Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist podcast) introduced the panel members, which included current showrunner Steven Moffat, executive producer Caroline Skinner, Matt Smith (the titular current Doctor #11), Karen Gillan (Amy Pond), and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams). [...]

SDCC 2012: ‘Deadpool’ Video Game Announced; First Trailer Unleashed

It’s no secret that fans have been clamoring for a good R-rated Deadpool movie for a while now, and while Marvel Studios has still not officially announced such a movie, Deadpool himself was on hand at Comic-Con to announce something else: a brand new video game based on the hit Marvel superhero.
The game, which will of course be titled Deadpool, comes from Activision and is being developed by High Moon Studios. It appears to be a 3rd-person game that will focus primarily on the Merc with the Mouth’s sense of humor and affinity for violence in hopes of “scratching that itch” fans might have.
You can check out the very entertaining reveal trailer for Deadpool below now. [...]

SDCC 2012: With The ‘Firefly’ Reunion Panel Wrapped, How Long Until A ‘Serenity’ Sequel?

With San Diego Comic-Con’s Firefly 10th anniversary reunion panel now wrapped up (watch the panel here below), we all know pretty much exactly what we did prior to it happening: Creator Joss Whedon loves this property possibly more than anything else he’s done to this point in his career.
The panel itself was set up by The Science Channel, which has been airing the 13-episode series on the cable network to great success. It’s even planning to do a special feature video that’ll air later this year.
Towards the end of the panel, Whedon made a heartfelt speech to fans that seemed to indicate that there’s more than a glimmer of hope left for the series to once again take shape on the big screen beyond the new Dark Horse comic book series coming later this year [...]

SDCC 2012: Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis Make Surprise Appearance For ‘The Campaign’

One of the many surprises of the day on Saturday in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con was Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis making a surprise appearance at the Warner Bros. panel to answer some fan questions about their upcoming movie The Campaign.
Ferrell and Galifianakis gave an aspiring comedian some advise and then showed off some footage from the film. Everyone was excited by the footage, which was mostly just the standard trailer, with a little bit of new footage added in. Ferrell showed off that he can still work a crowd, and Galifianakis is just as funny. Everyone in the room had a good time during this surprise visit.
Check out the photos of the stars from this panel [...]

SDCC 2012: Cosplay Photo Parade 1

We’re heading in to the final day of San Diego Comic-Con and with all the excitement going on at the convention show floor over the last few days, it can be easy to miss some of the great cosplay at this year’s con. Thankfully, Geeks of Doom has got your back with a selection of some of (in our opinion) the best cosplayers in the exhibition hall so far.
See photos here below for more than a few Dark Knights, an Elvis Vader, and about half of The Justice League, and be on the lookout later for even more cosplay photos from this massive convention.
Be sure to check out all our SDCC coverage [...]

Claudio Sanchez and Evil Ink Comics announced on Saturday that they will be partnering with Stephen Levinson‘s Leverage and Mark Wahlberg to bring us The Amory Wars, the epic story presented in a series of comic books from Boom! SDCC 2012: Teaser Trailer Shown For Gareth Edwards’ ‘Godzilla’; Teaser Poster Revealed
 |
Posted by Henchman21 | July 15th, 2012 at 10:00 am |

The Warner Brothers panel today at the San Diego Comic-Con surprised the audience at Hall H with a sneak peek at WB/Legendary Pictures’ upcoming film, Godzilla, from director Gareth Edwards.
The brief test footage (the film hasn’t actually begun filming yet) started with some smoke and then showed a city that had been completely destroyed by something. As the trailer moved forward, the famous “I am become Death” speech by J. Robert Oppenheimer — “We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture… ‘Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.’” — played over the scenes of devastation, implying that the movie will use the effects of a nuclear bomb or something along those lines as the creator of Godzilla. In the middle of the footage, we see a multi-legged monster that has already been killed. Then, as the trailer comes to a close, we get a shot of a new design for Godzilla. The footage ends with the classic Godzilla scream [...]

SDCC 2012: Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3′: The Mandarin Confirmed; Footage Shows New Armor In Action

The last studio panel of Saturday’s Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con began with a year-by-year video retrospective of Marvel’s Hall H presence, including past panel footage. “You’ve been here,” text on the screen read, “in this very room, helping us to assemble The Avengers.” The video went on to thank the Comic-Con fans for making The Avengers the number one superhero movie of all time.
Moderator Geoff Boucher (of the LA Times’ Hero Complex blog) opened the panel up by introducing Marvel Studios’ President of Production Kevin Feige, who announced the launch dates for future Marvel projects, including Guardians of the Galaxy. Then Feige brought director Edgar Wright onstage to talk about developments on the upcoming Ant Man [...]
