The Flash Grant Gustin The CW Season 1, Wally West might appear in Season 2

The cast and creators of The CW’s The Flash appeared on a panel last night during PaleyFest LA at The Dolby Theater in Hollywood, CA, where showrunner Greg Berlanti talked about what other members of the Flash family could make their way onto the show.

Berlanti, who produces other Warner Bros. TV series Arrow (The CW) and its planned spinoff as well as the upcoming Supergirl show (for CBS), told the attendees at the TV fest that his plan is for Wally West or Bart Allen to appear.

If the other “Flash” characters do show up, it would be during the second season of The Flash, which has already been picked up. Here’s what Berlanti said when asked about other members of the Flash family:

“That’s our hope. We’ve already been picked up for a second year so I think if we were going to do something like that, we would do it next year.”

This is a plan that the producers have previously mentioned that’d like to do “eventually,” but now it seems they have a better idea of when this will happen. In DC Comics’ recent The New 52 universe, Wally West was made African American, which would fit with the CW series, where the West family (who fostered young Barry Allen) is African American.

When asked about adapting stories from the DC Comics, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that they were planning on it, though no mention of which one or which universe it will be pulled from.

“There’s a fairly big Flash storyline from the comics we plan to tackle in the future.”

The Flash, which centers on Barry Allen as the title superhero, returns from a short hiatus this Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 8pm, and the next few episodes will see villains like Weather Wizard, Reverse Flash, Captain Cold, Golden Glider, and Mark Hamill’s reprisal of his 1990 character Trickster wrecking havoc on Central City. The season 1 finale airs on May 19, 2015.

You can check out the full 40-minute PaleyFest panel for The Flash, hosted by Aisha Tyler, featuring showrunners Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, along with stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Rick Cosnett, Danielle Panabaker, and Carlos Valdes, over at Yahoo!
