Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Image 03

Though we are still about five months away from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the hype machine continues to run on all cylinders. Recently, a viral marketing campaign gave us a glimpse into the world of LexCorp. Then, a new rumor popped up hinting that Wonder Woman would take place months before the events of Batman v Superman, and that Batman has been observing Wonder Woman for some time.

In the months leading up to the film’s debut, we are likely to get even more trailers, clips, and other promotional items that will crack the DC Cinematic Universe wide open. Now a new set of images have appeared online, and Henry Cavill is talking a little bit about the highly anticipated sequel, and even a “prologue.” More on the story below.

Speaking to Total Film, Cavill talked about the opening scene that will set the tone for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,

“What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?”

Ben Affleck then spoke about how this tired and weary Batman feels worried about Superman’s god-like powers going unchecked, and how he takes it upon himself to bring the Superman down,

“He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman,” Affleck adds. “So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.”

That piece of information isn’t anything new really; it does coincide with the plot description that was released a few months back. But that kind of motivation is more than enough to have us believe that Batman v Superman is more about Batman – despite director Zack Snyder saying that it is more Man of Steel 2 than anything else.

So even if that weren’t the case, it will be interesting to see how this new never-before-seen direction will shape the DCCU Batman. While it is still a long ways away, Affleck talked a little bit about his solo venture, and his excitement about it if he were to direct it.

If I could make it work, yeah, Obviously that would be like a dream. The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you – if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good. You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it”¦ Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea.

Affleck is sure going through great lengths to say he isn’t signed on to be director for the untitled Batman film. Of course, we will let you know who ends up directing the film as soon as the news becomes official.

Below we also have images from the film courtesy of Total Film.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25, 2015.
