Black Widow title card

After making her debut in 2010’s Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson‘s Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow finally makes her standalone film debut in Black Widow. Taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, the long-awaited film sees Natasha returning home and being met with a very unfriendly welcome. However, there is much more to it than that, as her return home also marks a family reunion of sorts.

While the cast was not on hand at the D23 Expo this weekend, Marvel Studios did share some interesting footage from the film. More on all of that here below.

Avengers: Endgame

Okay, it is pretty safe to say that Avengers: Endgame is the definitive end for some characters. So for the sake of not revealing spoilers, we won’t say who these characters are until after the jump. But for those who want to know or at least have an idea of which characters will appear again – because they have sequels – we kind of have a small tiny glimpse of what is to come.

For instance, we know that Marvel Studios is working on sequels for Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy. But what else could happen to some of the heroes that appeared in Endgame in upcoming films or on shows that will appear exclusively on Disney+? A lot actually. Find our more in the report below.

However, it looks like there are some studios who do not have faith in some female directors.

Zama director Lucrecia Martel, who was among the frontrunners to direct the Black Widow currently being developed, reveals why she turned down Marvel Studios’ long-awaited standalone film. In a new interview, she says she turned down the project because she learned that she would not be overseeing the action scenes. More on the report, below.

Black Widow In Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War may be hitting theaters this weekend, but many of us are already looking towards the future of the MCU. While we know films like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel are currently awaiting release, films like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel are the few films that have been confirmed for a Phase 4 release. As exciting as all of that sounds, it’s hard to believe that there has been no Black Widow movie. Well, until now that is.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Jac Schaeffer had been tapped to write the screenplay for the Black Widow standalone film. And now it appears that Marvel is looking at a few female directors to helm the film. More on the story below.

Black Widow Avengers Age Of Ultron Header

Of all the heroes we know about that exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we know very little bout Black Widow’s history. In the five films that we have seen her in, her backstory was given in vague and sparse details. That sort of mystery would be enough for the character to get her own movie. In fact, in 2014, Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige said a Black Widow movie was in development. But as we get closer to Avengers: Infinity War and Scarlett Johansson‘s contract is near expiration, it’s becoming more likely that a Black Widow film will not happen.

However, Johansson hasn’t given up hope. While she knows there is enough material for a standalone film to happen, she isn’t oblivious to the fact that she doesn’t know how much longer she will play the character. Check out what kind of ideas she has for a Black Widow film below.
