Star Wars Bounty Hunters Scene

Recent news on the second Star Wars anthology film has been surrounded in a bit of controversy. We know that Josh Trank is no longer the director of the film, but it was the reasons why Disney and Lucasfilm let him go that were so controversial. Since then, there has been word that the film could center on Boba Fett, and while this has been unconfirmed, there are new reports that back that claim up, plus additional reports that the film could also have Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Bossk in the mix.

Not only that, but there are rumors that Jon Favreau and Matthew Vaughn are in talks to direct the film.

More on these stories below.

Josh Trank

Josh Trank (Chronicle) has been let go from his duties as director of one of the two Star Wars standalone films, with the filmmaker stating that he made the decision to leave the highly profile project.

Rumors of problems with Trank actually started during the final day of Star Wars Celebration last month, when he was a no-show during a panel with Gareth Edwards (Star Wars: Rogue One) and LucasFilms President Kathleen Kennedy about the spinoff Anthology films. The director, who was slotted to do the second spinoff film, cited illness as the reason he couldn’t appear at the panel. Oddly enough, Fox dropped their newest Fantastic Four trailer on that same day, which also happened to be a Sunday of all days, leading many to believe there were conflicts between the two parties.

The Fantastic Four movie 2015 Miles Teller as Reed Richards Mr. Fantastic

Reed Richards is better known as Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. The character’s most notable powers are superhuman elasticity, which allows him to stretch his body at any length and makes him nearly impervious to physical attacks. Of course any slight change to that power will cause the internet community to throw their arms up in anger, and it looks like Josh Trank‘s upcoming Fantastic Four tested the limits of that anger, and as a result the studio had to make a change.

The Fantastic Four film website has some new character profiles. Focusing on our four heroes, we get some small details as to what their powers are. But when it comes to Reed Richards (Miles Teller), the description doesn’t match up to the character’s comic book lore.

Fantastic Four The Thing

This weekend saw three major trailers drop: first there was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was then followed by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. And now comes one for Fantastic Four.

Oddly enough, director Josh Trank was supposed to make an appearance on the final day of Star Wars Celebration to talk about his secret spinoff film, but attendees were told he fell ill, and could not make it. Now we can’t be certain if this is true, but a trailer dropping on the same day he was scheduled to make an appearance is quite suspect. Whatever the reason, we are getting a brand new trailer for Fantastic Four, which gives us a little more backstory on our four heroes — Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller), Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan), and The Thing (Jamie Bell) — as well as the villain, Doctor Doom (Tobey Kebbell). Hit the jump to check it out.
