During Legendary Pictures’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, which also included Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, long-in-the-making World of Warcraft movie took the Hall H stage.

This is director Moon and Source Code Duncan Jones’ third year working on the movie, titled Warcraft, after presenting and teasing the film the last two Comic-Cons. Jones wanted the movie to be an epic fantasy adventure movie, and something that was made to appeal to a wide audience beyond the loyal gamers.

Also taking part in the panel was cast members Travis Fimmel, Toby Kebbell, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu, Paula Patton, Robert Kazinsky, Ruth Negga, Ben Schnetzer, Clancy Brown, and Ben Foster.

Disconnect Blu-ray coverDisconnect
Blu-ray | DVD
Directed by Henry Alex Rubin
Starring Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Frank Grillo, Michael Nyqvist, Paula Patton, Jonah Bobo, Andrea Riseborough and Max Thieriot
Lionsgate
Theatrical Release Date: April 12, 2013
Blu-ray/DVD Release Date: September 17, 2013

First time director, Henry Alex Rubin, masters one of the most formidable difficulties in cinema with the greatest of ease and subtlety. He is able to take multiple narratives and seamlessly connect them in plausible ways in Disconnect. This weaving of narratives can be cumbersome and tackily melodramatic. Such was the case in 2005 when Crash made this storytelling popular, and a year later Babel grandly exploited the ploy to achieve artistic splendor. Each of these films was successful in their own right (Crash winning Best Picture at the Oscars and Babel receiving much critical acclaim).

After those two aforementioned films it seemed that the interlocking narrative was bound for obsolescence, following many botched attempts to replicate the magic that directors Paul Haggis and Alfonso Cuaron captured. But Mr. Rubin, working with an impeccable script crafted by Andrew Stern, resuscitates this form of narrative, attaching to it a social and domestic relevance that will undoubtedly leave viewers reeling after realizing there is a latent infection not only constantly threatening our society today but also our personal lives.

Movie Review: 2 Guns

2 Guns Movie Poster2 Guns
Director: Baltasar Kormákur
Screenwriter: Blake Masters
Cast: Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos, Fred Ward
Universal Pictures
Rated R | 109 Minutes
Release Date: August 2, 2013

Had 2 Guns been released in 1997, it would have been directed by Renny Harlin or Sheldon Lettich with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman Wesley Snipes as counter-terrorist operatives framed for a crime they didn’t commit.

The film’s tag line would be something like “They don’t play by the rules,” and the trailer would highlight the unlikely duo as a highly effective tag-team of street smarts and technical precision, dealing out one-liners and helicopter spin-kicks amidst explosions and shoot-outs.

Luckily, it isn’t 1997 – because I would be in middle school – and 2 Guns is an entirely solid, straightforward “Movie for Guys Who Like Movies” directed by Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur (101 Reykjavík, Contraband). Based on a comic book series of the same name published by BOOM! Studios, 2 Guns stars Denzel Washington as DEA Agent Bobby Trench and Mark Wahlberg as NCIS Agent Marcus Stigman, two undercover operatives who are unknowingly investigating each other.

The lackluster box office grosses (not a flop, but not a good omen either) for the 2006 sequel Mission: Impossible III had the studio suits at Paramount questioning the future of the once-viable tentpole action franchise, but after more than five years the blockbuster movie series is back with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

The second trailer for the movie has been released and you can watch it here below.
